Sunita Mehta and all the members of Women for Afghan Women sincerely thank Palgrave/St. Martin's Press, particularly Amanda Johnson, Meredith Howard, Jennifer Reeves and Matthew Ashford, Gayatri Patnaik (now with Beacon Press), Sundaram Tagore and the Sundaram Tagore Gallery, Ramesh Shah of Salaam Bombay restaurant for making the book launch party for "Women for Afghan Women: Shattering Myths and Claiming the Future" such a successful event.

The party was held on Friday October 18, 2002, and drew an enthusiastic crowd of more than 300.

Eleanor Smeal of Feminist Majority Foundation and Zohra Yusuf Daoud, both contributors to the book, gave presentations about the book and the current situation in Afghanistan. Three Lives Bookstore sold copies of the book at this event, and the book sold out early in the evening!
