Today, December 10, 2018, is the last day to submit a comment to the Federal Register on the U.S. Administration's proposed "public charge" rule, which would bar certain individuals from obtaining entry into the U.S. This proposed rule has the potential to adversely affect some of Women for Afghan Women's (WAW) New York Community Center clients. WAW calls on all of its staff to submit comments and share this post, as well as to solicit the help of all our networks and clients. The submission of public comments during the rulemaking process are a vital tool civil society can use to address the challenges within the proposed rule and create a better, more refined policy. WAW’s Afghanistan Country Director, Najia Nasim, to succeed Manizha Naderi as WAW’s New Executive Director starting January 1, 2019 The Board of Directors of Women for Afghan Women (WAW) is proud to announce that WAW’s Afghanistan Country Director, Najia Nasim, will transition to the role of Executive Director commencing January 1, 2019. Ms. Nasim will succeed Manizha Naderi, who has served as WAW’s Executive Director since 2006, and with whom Ms. Nasim has worked closely to build the grassroots approach of WAW—the largest human rights organization in Afghanistan—and its extensive operations, reach, and success. Since its inception in 2001, WAW has grown from a small group of volunteers to the largest Afghan women’s rights organization in the world, promoting and protecting the rights of Afghan women and children through direct services, human rights training, and advocacy.
