Boys Leadership Team Leader, NY (US) (Part-Time)

Women for Afghan Women (WAW) is a grassroots, civil society organization dedicated to securing and protecting the rights of disenfranchised Afghan women and girls in Afghanistan and New York, particularly their rights to develop their individual potential, to self-determination, and to be represented in all areas of life: political, social, cultural, and economic. WAW advocates for women’s rights and challenges the norms that underpin gender-based violence wherever opportunities arise to influence attitudes and bring about change. The Boys Leadership Team Leader serves as a mentor and role model for the youth participants enrolled in the Boys Leadership Program (ages 10-15) and the Afghan Youth Rising (AYR) program (ages 16-20)  conducted at WAW’s New York Community Center (NYCC) who are either first-generation Muslim Americans or recently arrived immigrants.  The Boys Leadership and AYR programs ensure that youth from the local Afghan and Muslim immigrant communities have a safe …

Advocacy and Outreach Coordinator, NY (US)

Position Summary Women for Afghan Women (WAW) is a grassroots, civil society organization dedicated to securing and protecting the rights of disenfranchised Afghan women and girls in Afghanistan and the US, particularly their rights to develop their individual potential, to self-determination, and to be represented in all areas of life: political, social, cultural, and economic. Associate Financial Analyst, NY (US)

Job Type: Full-Time, In-Person + Remote (Hybrid) in Queens, New York Women for Afghan Women (WAW) is looking for an Associate Financial Analyst (AFA) for its finance department. Under the supervision and guidance of the organization’s Financial Controller, the job-holder will perform the following duties: Payment to Venders: Will work with WAW's program and development staff to ensure the timely processing and payment of all approved payment requests to vendors. Accounts Receivable: Regularly check WAW’s financial accounts on payment processing portals to record incoming donations. It is important that classification of incoming funds (including donation checks) are done by their restrictive types and assigned to programs as they are intended to; Accounts Payable: Receive all incoming invoices, which include vendor invoices for payment, staff reimbursement claims, and any other requests for payment that are approved.
